A Valentine before the day

(Y/N) was a pretty girl, not one of the most beautiful, she was only considered average by the majority at her school. However, Her (H/L) (H/C) hair flowed over her back, as she walked and her (E/C) eyes shone like a bright star. That star however had begun to dull with all the rejections, she experienced this also only hardened the already hard truth for her; she was not good enough for Levi Ackerman.

She did not know of Levi’s love, he had never told her afraid that she would not feel the same for him as he did her. Little did he know she felt the same but like him was afraid to confess and as the rejections kept coming, it became harder for her to want to admit.

Her Love for Levi had begun early on, even before they began to be friends. When they had begun to talk she had planned on telling him, but then he had started dating the Schools most Popular Girl (Name) rendering her mute and sad, but still she supported him.

In the end (name) kept Levi away from (Y/N) in started in the small, but soon Levi did not even keep an old agreement, the two had come up with. She knew now, that her love would be returned, which was why she turned to other people, in hope to fall in love with. But all the boys did, was reject her one by one coming up with some reason.

Levi and (Name) had been dating for a year now, while (Y/N) fell deeper into her own misery; she began to miss classes and avoided the school al together. She was a wallflower that no one noticed, which to her meant that she was not and would not be missed in case something happened to her.

No one really missed her, right?

Her friends however did, her three close friend Eren Mikasa and Armin, who sat with her during lunch, they had all been witnesses to her last try to talk to a boy, she had liked. she had told them about her crush on Levi, which wouldn’t happen due to him being with (name).

On this one day the three was sitting contemplating telling Levi about (Y/N)’s crush on him, when Levi fast walked past them his eyes angry.

“Asshole!” a very familiar voice cried after the Ebony hair colored male, who stopped as he realized, what table he had just passed. He turned scanning the table scanning it.

“Oi, where is (Y/N)?” he asked, as he recognized that someone was missing. He really wanted to talk to her, it was due; he had finally realized something and he wanted to tell her.

“What is it to you?” Mikasa said, “You and her have been friends for so many years, then you turn her away, when you met that overpainted doll.”

Levi looked at her; it was no lie that there were no love between the two unrelated Ackerman’s. He knew she was right, (Y/N) had come to him a number of time asking for help and even wanting to know, if he wanted to spend some time with her. However, he had always turned her down walking away with (name), not seeing her eyes filled with hurt and longing, nor the gloating eyes of his girlfriend, whom always dragged him away.

“She hasn’t been around lately,” Armin noted looking around, “she also seemed really down, the last time I saw her.”

“You don’t think she’s suicidal,” Eren suddenly said, they all looked at him, but that was enough for the four to grab their things, taking off each with their separate thoughts.



“(Y/N), are you in here?” Mikasa knocked on the door to the room, (Y/N) had alone after her roommate left, “(Y/N)?”

“Let me try brat” Levi said pushing Mikasa aside, knocking harder on the door, soon enough they heard a crash from inside the room, “(Y/N)! Open the door!”

Levi smashed the door in, when they had received no reply and that crash had made them worried as well. They all stopped for a second as they took in the scene their friend was lying on the floor.

“Eren call an ambulance!” Mikasa ran over together with Armin. Levi stood still watching the blood flow from the back of (Y/N) head, while Eren grabbed his phone calling for an ambulance.

“Hello, we need at ambulance at Shiganshina university’s sleeping halls, one of our friends has hit her head hard and she is unconscious”

“(Y/N)!!”



Levi watched as the Ambulance left with (Y/N) in it, he had wanted to follow in the ambulance, but Mikasa who had been sitting next to (Y/N) keeping her head wound from bleeding too much, went with their friend instead.

“Levi,” he turned, seeing Armin stand with a piece of paper in his hand, “she was writing this, when she…”

“Armin, we don’t know if she did it on purpose or it was an accident, that she hit her head,” Eren said walking up to his friend, “let’s leave Levi alone for now, the letter wasn’t for either of us.”

Levi stood still as he read the short letter, which in some sense seemed like a suicide note, but also could be something else.

“Levi, for years I have loved you, fearing that you wouldn’t love me back. I couldn’t lay my heart bare, as you started dating (name). I turned to other guys hoping, that I would fall in love with one of them, but I didn’t and when they rejected me… that’s when I knew, I wasn’t good enough for anyone… let alone you.

I’m not worthy off asking you to be my valentine…”

“Idiot” Levi said, “I love you too. Damn why didn’t have I the courage to go to you sooner?” Levi ran down the stairs to his car, which he quickly turned on going to the hospital to await news on his old friend.



The doctor came out, “(Y/N)’s brain was swelling up, so we had to put her in a medical induced Coma”

Levi frowned, not liking what he was hearing, “so what does that actually mean?” he asked a bit cautious, he did know but he wanted it confirmed.

“The blow to her head caused the brain to swell up, in these cases medical induced comas can be the only solution,” Levi growled a bit, “but it means that she can come out of it clean if the brain swelling falls and if it doesn’t…” Levi froze up, “we might want to look into her as an organ donor”

Levi’s face showed horror, as he walked backwards falling heavily into a chair. He knew from before he had started dating (name), that (Y/N) had told him about herself; she had no family left only an unknown uncle, who lived overseas and paid for some of her tutorage.

“Do you know if she has any close family, we can call?” the Doctor asked

Levi shook his head, “No, she only has an uncle, but she has never met him or talked to him” Levi said, “can… can I see her?”

The doctor nodded, not really saying anything else. Levi was show to his friend’s room, where he looked in at her sleeping face, the many machines around her right there and that is when he knew.

He was not leaving her alone again.


Some weeks later.


Levi felt his hand being squished ever so gently, as his consciousness began to return from the fogs of sleep. He woke up slowly, until he knew what he had sensed, he opened his eyes fast looking over.

His eyes met barely opened (E/C) embedded in a face, which was frowning in confusion, “I thought you would be with (name)?” (Y/N) asked him weakly.

“No, you damn brat. Not when you were like that… I should have noticed,” He said, he paused for a bit wanting to know, “(Y/N) did you hit your head on purpose,” Levi asked he saw her frown, as if she was wondering what he meant.

“Levi, I don’t know what you’re talking about?”
Levi frowned, “you don’t remember us coming to your room trying to talk to you?”

“No, the last I remember is me asking (Male Name) out?”

“(Y/N), that was several weeks ago” Levi gently caressed her face, she frowned herself unable to remember.

“What day is it?” (Y/N) asked him, he looked out in the hallway, which was decorated with small hearts and roses.

“It’s the 13th of February,” he answered, silently happy she had woken up before Valentine’s Day

“The day before Valentine’s Day” she gave a weak smile, “is it too late to ask you to be my valentine tomorrow then?” Levi shook his head, leaning over giving her a kiss and placed his forehead against hers.

“No, brat, it’s not”
